I've been workin' on NW stuff pretty consistently in the background, mostly changes to speed up the way the site works and attack limiting balance, I just haven't uploaded changes for a while because there's a difficult login/session bug that I've been experiencing that I have to make sure doesn't effect the live server's code before I send stuff up to the live game.
I've also actually been working on getting the code (and security) set up to make NW open source. Plan is to have the code and database structure be publicly hosted over on github.com. That means that at that point the game code will be available for download, for people to view the code and check it out and propose their own personal improvements to the html, php, javascript code as they are able (it's not necessary to know how to use "git" or even really github, but it would be useful).
I think that the easiest places to make changes for a lot of people will once again be in the html code of the pages themselves (I've said before that if people want to propose improvements to the html, css, javascript, I'll be happy to put 'em in). With the github.com code repository, it'll also be possible for people to make improvements to the php code if they wish, or just browse through the code in general, and get a better understanding of how the game works, or view what changes are being developed in the background. (git and Github, by the way, are highly recommended tools for any software or web developer. If you program, you should get to know github and git.)
I'll be makin' an announcement here on the forum and posting the url to where the ninjawars code repository on github is when that's available.
That said, I'm emphasizing the html, css, and javascript of ninjawars because you can make improvements to those parts right now, if you're up to it. View source of the pages, play with it, improve it, and email a file to me, and if the improvements are up to snuff, I'll put 'em up. Want to propose a change to the color scheme/background images/fonts/css schemes of the ninjawars pages? Download the source of a page or the css file of the site and make changes and email 'em at me, and if they're up to par and make sense, I'll change the site to match.
