Tchalvak and I are generally pleased with the our latest updates to Ninja Wars. The latest release of code was a solid mix of interface updates, new features, and core infrastructure upgrades.
So, we're taking some time to plan our next steps, and I wanted to let you know what to expect in the coming months.
The first thing, which started today, is issue resolution (a.k.a. bug squishing). Our latest release today was a bug fix release which resolved 9 of the most visible and game affecting issues. We've currently got 23 issues that we want to resolve as our next big push. Resolving these issues will fix some annoying behavior, replace some lost functionality, improve security, and improve the underlying code so that we can build on it better.
After that, our next push is going to be some new features again. We'll be adding some depth and customizability to clans, new flavor for some of the game concepts, and some game balancing around resurrections (auto and manual). Tchalvak can explain in more detail later.
After that, we're going to disappear for bit. We'll be around for bug fixing, but for the most part we'll be working under the hood trying to clean up a lot of the mess. We'll be implementing better testing and deployment procedures, fixing a lot of the internal architecture, and reducing memory consumption so that we can support more players without spending more money on server upgrades.
When we finally finish that phase, we'll be back and talking about all new features and getting you all engaged in the process again.
Finally, we want to thank you all for your support. We don't ask for money, there's no way for you to give us money, but we've been doing this mostly to hear that you enjoy the game. When we see the number of players online, the amount of chatting going on, and all the activity we've been seeing, we get excited. Thank you for playing Ninja Wars, with all it's quirks and faults, bugs and outages, balance issues and cheaters. It's been a long time, but we're finally feeling like we can take this hobby of ours and make something that is truly fun for our players.
Thank you for playing!
