Wow. It's been a long time since anyone has updated this thread. I've talked to Riho and discussed the possibility of restarting the thread, but there are no immediate plans to continue this regularly. I just felt like doing it.

Kenpachi allowed himself to smile as he looked upon the sight that befell him as he teleported back to the side of Maia.
“Well, you took care of him. Nice work Maia.” He said cheerfully, clapping her on the back, half expecting her to whip around and give him a pummeling. However, she was silent, looking intently at the pile of ashes in front of her.
“I…did that.” Maia said, disbelief permeating her tone, “I don’t even know how I did that. But I did it. What’s happening to me?”
Kenpachi looked at her, a knowing look on his face. “It seems that you have a connection to someone quite powerful. It’s…happened to me before. Most vampires are connected to our blood sire. When I was newly made the shinobi of my village burned away the connection, but as I grew more powerful…”
He sighed and paused for a moment, letting out a breath. “I reopened it when I forced myself to evolve. For a long time it influenced whatever I did, how I trained, how I grew. But a connection to our sire can only do so much in determining us. We either let it take us over, completely blocking out any new advances in abilities or technique, block the connection completely or find some balance.”
Kenpachi gently touched Maia’s shoulder. “Now, let’s get back to Yachiru. I bet she’s worried about us by now.”
--------------------------------------------------------
“How long have you been able to do that?” Maia asked as they peered into the gore-filled blackness of the sanctuary, the bodies of the Feltshcrich in various stages of mutilation.
Kenpachi kicked away one of the bloody hulks as he pressed on deeper into the darkness. “Ever since I completed Madness.” He answered. “Something embedded within my bloodline came to my surface. It was probably part of her master plan.”
Maia looked at him curiously but did not ask who he meant by the comment, instead moving to another question which had been bothering her. “Where did Yachiru go?”
Kenpachi glanced over to where Kouencage had lain, passed out and undergoing vampiric transformation. “Oh, I hope this isn’t what I expect.”
---------------------------------------------------
Yachiru was not having a fun day. Not my any stretch of her incredibly active imagination. Sure, the demon attack had been fine, but why, oh why did this have to happen? A snarling Kouencage had charged her, flames licking around her body and had Yachiru waved a hand, a barrier forming around the newly turned vampire. That had been shortly after the demon attack and even though the battle had left her in a weakened state she could still hold the barrier for another day at least. But she was bored, bored, bored.
“How long has she been like this?” asked Kenpachi, teleporting behind her.
Yachiru grinned before floating up and whacking him over the head. “Ken-nii-chan, the next time you turn a human, please don’t leave her with me for hours.”
Kenpachi let out a sigh. “I guess I lack your mother’s skill at getting the results she desires from her experiments. It seems that the chaos is far too much for her to handle. Her transformation into a vampire has only given a more powerful body for the chaos to control.”
In a fluid movement he drew Madness, letting the blades stretch outwards, clattering against the stone walls.
“Please lower the barrier Yachiru.”
The ageless child looked at him sadly and lowered her hand. The snarling Kouenkage lunged forward him, huge gouts of flame spouting from her body, searing the walls of the sanctuary.
“I’m sorry.” Madness shot forward, burying itself into Kouencage’s shoulder. Her body crumpled to the floor.
“With that bloodblade inside you shattered the chaos ought to dissipate, along with the rest of your powers.”
