Also, it would be nice if you got like one point a level that you could assign. Or if, you know, the classes did something lol. How about being able to explode your enemy with your mind. That would be a cool attack. You guys should get to work on that.

That would be a cool attack. You guys should get to work on that. This is a really awesome idea. But the second we put it in, you guys will want throat slashing, shuriken trhowing, hacking heads off and all the other stuff ninja do for fun. So we'll probably hold off on it...

Just to clarify, the exploding with your mind is a really cool idea.
The stat point assignment thing is something we're designing, so don't worry, it won't always be so random.

How about a way to counter attack or block? Like maybe it'll take longer to attack someone who is online at the time and you could get a little pop up for 2 seconds. If you click said pop up in the 2 seconds then you block the incomming attack or something. That would be sweet. Cause then it would take reaction time to counter an attack.

sounds good except for when you come back to your computer and the screen has pop-ups all over it lol

Post by captainnoob on Mar 15, 2007 21:27:20 GMT -5
No no, the popup would be an in-game effect only and would dissappear after the 2 seconds or whatever. And it could even appear in a random place just to mix things up even more. That would be awesome too.

Post by dtmd on Mar 16, 2007 0:24:30 GMT -5
that would piss us people w/ bad hand-eye coordination of. lol example(
<blooOOOp> Popup appears "oh shit!" <searches for pop-up> < time elapsed .09 seconds> <move hand to click><move hand too slow eta 1.7> "oo..." <moves mouse directly over 'ok' button to click> time elapsed 1.9> "NOOOOO" <clicks at 2.1 seconds and pop-up is no more> <unfortunately for our hero, he also clicked the close button on this internet explorer page and now has to log back into NW again...>
Of course, this is only a worste-case scenario lol ;D

It's a great idea for combat openings.
We are going to be putting in a combo system, where you will be able to tailor your actions.
Maybe you play every single round of combat out. Maybe you script a 3 move combo. Maybe you script out a 10 move combo. Maybe you script a 3 move, then a 2 move combo. Maybe you script a repeating sequence. Maybe you script nothing and the game randomly selects for you.
These are just some possibilities we are looking at. As for having them be in a pop-up, I think it might get a little cluttered, but it'd be definitely cool for effect.
HIT PUNCH NOW! <hit punch button> Your opponents head falls off from your Tiger Punch!

Yeah maybe instead of having to click the pop up (which would still be inside the realm of the game, dtmd, thus it would be hard to close your window...noob) you would have to press a certain key or something like that.
dtmn : oh but you could accidently hit the alt f4 key and close the window and have to restart the whole game and use my auto clicker blah blah blah

I will make this one of my primary goals in NW2:
It doesn't matter how often or how many times you click a button in NW2. It's not about WHAT you do it's about HOW you do it. An auto-anything is just the same as doing it manually. The choices presented are what will make the game interesting.

|
|
Post by Beagle on Mar 21, 2007 8:26:59 GMT -5
That's been a goal of the whole team for some time now. The full combat system will make scripts obsolete as there will be strategic choices to make. There will be more choice and more strategy in NW2.

Speaking of leftyness, you should allow choice of handedness (that means left or right handed, dtmd). Maybe allow it so that a lefty would get an advantage when attacking a righty, but be at a dissadvantage when being attacked by one. If you attack someone with the same handedness, then you get nothing special.
|
|
|
Post by Beagle on Mar 21, 2007 22:29:27 GMT -5
I think we should go for ultimate realism, and give left-handed people a lower average life expectancy.
|
|
|
Post by suavisimo on Mar 22, 2007 7:10:05 GMT -5
Also, we should add in a sliding scale per hand, so that you start off with one type of handed-ness and based on usage it shifts back and forth between them. So a unidextrous person has 100 and 0 and a ambidextrous person has 100 has 100. But at that point we'll need a detrimental counter too so as your one hand is used, the other falls in skill.
But before that we need to seriously get decapitations in. I'm a personal fan of decapitation.

so captain, what's up w/ bombing me all the sudden? i didn't insult you in any way lol... anyways im glad to see some strategy ideas start to sink in because just turning on the auto-clicker is sort-of boring. I want to actually be able to make each move i take.

The ideas have been in place for some time now. We're just still coding the complexities.

ugg dont you hate it, beagle, (and captain that means beagle not you) when you know how to code it and what you want to code but you cant find the time or the motivation to do it? i feel that all the time lol... btw sorry bout that captain, just had to do it. ;D

It's hard to get things done in a timely fashion, especially when the life you lead leaves precious little time to get them done. But we WILL get the done, and we WILL get them done on a schedule that we're developing. You will see improvements to NW2 regularly.

I know others have mentioned this before, but I am annoyed enough to bring it up myself. I am at level 82 and I can't seem to kill a guy that is at level 45 no matter how many times I try... I'm almost fourty levels ahead of him for god's sake!

same here... i was having problems with the level gap on there that is from 50 - 30, i was having to kill the 30 guys to scrape up barely enough exp. luckily for me though lol, i saw a guy get on there today, and in a matter of 10 minutes he leveled from level 5 to level 46! i was freaking out...
At first i wanted to report him but then i realized that it was me! lol im glad, im really just gonna use him for a stepping stool to get out of the 80's and start being able to kill some 50's for a little exp. I've noticed that the natural level split is around the med 30's to the high 40's. There's also a LOT of level 70's + but it stalls around high 80's because of this level gap. That's why im glad to fill the gap for us 80's that cant kill any body for some decent exp.
;D btw... he had 40k stamina when i got on lol and he still has 15k left lol... so in 25k stamina, i level 9 times my initial level! CRAZY AWESOME! ;D

Yeah, I love how the more you level, the lower the level of your targets has to become. Makes perfect sense...right?

lol i get soooo frustrated with that level 88 can only beat level 31? for 18 exp meanwhile level 46 can beat 31 for 34 exp and sometimes kill players the same level as him.... pissess me off lol

The level gap is even getting on my nerves, and I normally have patience of old fat person on the street begging for food.
It is interesting though, it means that you can level up fast, but once you get higher, it gets harder! I'm sorta liking it....
