Ok, I'm just going to say this here because I need to get it out of my system. What do you all think about the recent drop in gas prices in the US? I personally think it was a little too convenient that they would discover new oil just when the Republicans were taking a serious beating in the political arena. This is just too bloody obvious! I'm fairly sure that they were just saving this as a trump card in case our oh-so-beloved but oh-so-idiotic president's favorite war endangered the Republicans' grip on Congress.
This may sound funny, but I was hoping that they would at least have learned from their mistakes. The lack of subtlety here is disgusting! Can they even really call themselves politicians?!
Maybe my priorities are kind of screwed up, after all I'm more pissed off at their incompetence than the actual manipulation. Of course, I would still be right here complaining if they had done something truly subtle and managed to properly hide the fact. Its a sad state of affairs when almost no one remarks upon the obviousness of a political ploy like this.

Riho you're not being fair to yourself. Though I'm just glad that gas prices are going down you would think that if Republicans we're trying to sway votes that way they would do so in a few more weeks.
And yes, Fate willing they will take an asswhupping in the November elections. If there is a 2/3rds majority we can impeach the man behind all this, even if there is no chance in hell of him getting kicked out of office.
I don't blame you for being worried though. Expect in the weeks before the election to include the foiling of a terror plot, a code red terror alert and a new anti gay marriage/stem cell research/abortion bill to be introduced.

Weeks don't mean much in political terms. They've given themselves just enough time for the full effect of their discovery to sink in and possibly sway enough votes to keep the Democrats from taking over Congress.
