We've been tossing around an idea that we'd like to run by you all. This will effect everyone so please provide your input so we know what you want.
The Current State: [ At 12:00am EST, all dead players become alive and all players are healed to 150hp ]
The Proposed State: [ At 12:00am EST, all dead players become alive with 100hp. All other players are NOT healed. Every hour, each alive player gains 8hp up to a max of 150hp ]
Reasoning: 1) When you manually resurrect at the shrine, you come back at 100hp and lose a kill point. If you wait until midnight, you heal to 150hp and don't lose a kill point. This seems like an incentive to stay dead. 2) Currently, player sit and wait till midnight to play. If they slowly regenerate health every hour, they may be ready to launch another attack at a sooner time.
What are your thoughts on this? We think this will make death less of a hiding place while at the same time providing the players with more opprotunities to play instead of waiting until midnight to heal. Please provide your input so we can do the right thing for you.

The probelm with hp being filled to max is that currently, hp is not filled to max and the high level players are already almost untouchable. If they had an extra 300 - 500hp for free, I think it would throw the balance of the game way off.
BUT
A better reason not to do that right away is that it's not currently done. We don't want to make multiple drastic changes all at once. The proposal was formed with the status quo in mind. We're trying to cause as little disruption as possible while at the same time moving forward.
Is this a satisfactory answer to your question? Feel free to take up the contrary position and provide reasons for why players should be healed to max.
Tchalvak has suggested that for every level above one, you get healed 2.5 hp extra (rounded down). So at level 11, you would heal to 175. This would be a small benefit but still a reward for gaining levels. What are your thoughts on his proposed solution? (Level 31 players would heal to 225)

There are too many people staying dead. Myself included. I don't want to risk losing any money so after I play I fight the merchant or any other npc to kill myself out. It might seem like a weak strategy but it works and I don't have to worry about losing any money. I know Camilo does this also. My wife was in real-time combat with him and he killed her and himself and fled (logged out.) If you could come up with a solution I wouldn't mind staying alive.
Regeneration sounds nice. I don't find anything wrong with it.

One last thing! Why not make it that at midnight you get resurrected but you do lose a kill point. Then people would have to mind what they do instead of waiting for midnight to do something.

We're looking into ways to make death less appealing but also keep the game bearable for the low level players that high level players like to farm. That said, this is our first small step towards that. If you like this idea, we'll start working on it and you can see it in action soon.
The senitment I get from this thread is that the players have given us the "go ahead" on this idea. So, anyone who disagrees with this, please post soon as we will start building this in the next 2 weeks.

i dun think the idea of regeneration works that good... let me give u an example ... camilo (yay) and nadz (booo!) ... strong players... camilo would regenerate every hour a certain amount of HP ..but camilo doesnt have the time to be in his computer the whole day....so every hour camilo would die if Nadz logs in regularly throughout the day.. ... i was thinking that maybe u could code something that would let the player choose his/her own time zone ...(which i dont think can be done at this point of time..but anywayz) ..so that players revive at the different points thruout the day... so diferent people would revive at 12 PM ..in each different time zone.... well thats what i think...

Well, Camilo, I think, perhaps, there's a misunderstanding here, maybe I didn't say it.
You don't regenerate health if your dead. So let me try to lay it out more accurately.
IF you are alive, you regenerate health every hour up to 150 or 150+(2.5*(level-1)). (undecided on which) IF you are dead, you can choose to resurrect and lose 1 kill point, coming back with 100hp. IF you are dead, you will automatically come back to life at 12am EST with 100hp.
PROBLEM: It becomes easier to kill people at "magic midnight".
This isn't going to solve the issue of people "staying dead", but we think it will add to the game.
Also, we could make it so that "magic midnight" instead occurs at a "random" time throughout the day, different every day. What do you think of that?
Or we could resurrect half of the players at noon and the other half at midnight.
What would you think of those ideas as well?
Camilo: Does this clearer explanation solve your problem?

Camilo is a dork and doesn't understand anything. All he is worrying about is me killing him.
What you guys don't understand is that if there were more higher level characters I, being the one of the highest level characters, would fight them like I do right now. Why not code it so that players who have been playing and automatically hit a certain amount of kills (5) level up automatically instead of just having 100 kills and still level 1. Maybe that might help the farming of level 1s.

I was considering that option a few days ago, but have not been able to get in touch with NinjaLord.
I like the idea, but we have to discuss it.
Anyway, this thread isn't about that, I just want to make sure this change, which I think is a fairly big change, is ok with the players. We can take up other ideas and change in other threads.
