I submit to the court that (at least at present) this is a really fast game. It just doesn't have staying power. I mean, I can through some other ninja, heal myself, die twice, stealth and then poison someone, and only have fifteen minutes have passed by. The thing is that I don't play it 24/7, just for a short time every day. *shrugs* Which is probably part of the point of web-based games.

I think only once about a year ago did i try doing 30 minutes sever was flooded pretty bad back then. Several games use a referal link system to obtain turns other than and only game system turns once per day. I could see this as a big traffic provider since people would need to click on your long to advance in power. Anyone think NW would benefit from this type of system or is an time based turn system the best way to keep it ?

I've been thinking about doubling it to 2 turns per hour or making the ticks every half-hour. Going for half-hour ticks is the better idea but we'd have to clear it with our host and make sure we're not taking up too many resources.
5 turns though? It is a BBG. You're not supposed to play it 24/7. It's a casual game. Have fun, and then do something else. ;D

I think I'd rather keep it at one turn per hour, unless somehow you can fix it where turns don't reset to 50 if you have over that every half hour.

geez you people whine about lots of stuff don't you. I was playing ninja wars almost a year ago and just waiting with excitement for the next hour, it was that awesome to me. The only reason i lack the same passion now is because I have reached a higher level and don't really get the chance to put in necessary time to level up. If anything the leveling system should be redone not the turns. If the turns were changed the game would be changed. Now think about the way things are now. 1 turn is a good choice, Hell go blue if you want more lol. It's not that hard to figure out. Besides this isn't a hack and slash where you sit there and play all day. It uses turns as most web games do. I mean come on people. What is so bad about not being killed relentlessly because some newb saves up 200 turns and uses them all to get a bounty. I mean honestly i know there is a turn cap which isn't a bad idea if he could extend it that would help. Hey John just change the turn cap alright. You know i don't come here often. It's practically unheard of so i know you will understand the importance of this. Also could you change the leveling system a bit. Also what up Al been a while . toodles

Hey, welcome back Squall, good to see you. You're absolutely right, it's the levelling and experience system that needs to change, and that's exactly what we're doing. However, I am also thinking of upping turns per half hour, but not significantly. And also changing the cap too. Here's a quick recap of these ideas. Turn cap: The turn cap will go up with your level. This way, a new player won't be able to save up 200 turns, but a veteran player may be able to. (THey might need that many too!) Turns per tick: Increase turns per tick to something like 5. But then increase the turn cost for everything accordingly. This would allow for more fine tuning of action costs. So say right now a duel takes 5 turns, with a turn system like I just described, a duel might take 7 - 15, depending on how we choose to balance it. Just examples and loose ones at that. We're redoing the combat system so the "duels" you all know will be changed quite a bit. But yeah, we ARE changing the game for the better to make it more fun and more rewarding. really not cool, blue ninjas get too much turns. They have ice bolt and cold steal, and an extra turn. White ninjas, deflect and sight, Red ninjas have fire bolt and Blaze, Black ninjas have poison and stealth. Every other ninja only 2 abilities except blue ninjas. Now is that fair?, and i know about the resurrection for white ninjas, 150 health. 50 health means very little, anyone with a high enough level can throw over 150 damage or attack over 150 damage. If they have extra turns others should have and extra ability

yeah, turn caps should be by level. and yeah i am a red ninja and its pretty slow. I hardly use fire bolt cause i have shurikens and fire scrolls. I hardly duel, cause i can kill a level 1 with 2 to 4 turns. We should have other stuff put in or take that extra turns for blue out. I am thinking of switching to blue, but my level is pretty okay, not wanting to redo everything, and there are so many blue ninjas compared to others.

I realize the issue, but I can't in good conscience take away the blue ninja's extra turn. I did make it half as effective with the latest change to the turn system if you noticed. The extra turn occurs half as frequently relative to the standard rate of turn growth.
But as I said, the important thing is that this will all become balanced with NW2. It is very hard to rework NW1 not just because of the code, but because players will hate us if we do too much to try to fix the "problems".

Then what is the point of playing if it takes a WHOLE hour to charge? Could you make it five minutes or so, as that would seem fair. Not to mention to us, level one ninja's who can't beat level 100's and so. ;D

The problem with giving players too many turns right now is that we don't have the bandwidth or disk space requried to support it. We'll be moving to a more professional web host and you'll probably be able to play a little more frequently. But the game isn't designed to be played for hours on end. You play it a little bit each day or week based on your desires, and then you go out and do normal life things like work, go outside, meet with friends, etc.
This is a casual game, not a hardcore one.

lol hey beagle to some of us it don't get more serious than this, which is why im personally glad there is a limit, or i would not have a life at all. however some of us more experienced players have found ways to have virtually limitless turns, i for instance almost never run out of turns anymore, however i also have the ability to leave the game with turns left over.... I realize the importance of strategy and biding your time, but by the same token i remember what it was like to be lev 1 for 2 weeks before i got my five kills...however the new policy with the shrine for lev 5 and under has more than levelled that playing field. Read the tutorial and about, plan your course carefully and be patient, thats the most valueable skill for this game....patience.

Yeah...Not a hardcore game is right beagle, but I personally like the turn thing...forces me to play at least every 2 days. (I hate wasting turns) I agree with Kuma it is a game of patience.

stop complaining about the turns really. Like Murmkuma says, planning and patience. If you read the tutorial and understood what you were getting into when you signed up for characters, you knew the weaknesses and the strengths of each colour. You don't need to be on the game for 9 hours a day. Play it, when you run out of turns just leave it until you get what you need for next time. You have speed scrolls you can purchase which beagle has lowered the cost of the items. Ninja bounties are there for you to grab to keep your health up, and to buy those much needed scrolls to go on killing sprees. Options are there people, use them to your full advantage, turns are plentiful for the intelligent players.
