How easy/hard would it be to have a java based chat? This way, it would be much easier to talk and what not...

We've developed a javascript chat that's much easier to use and doesn't require Java, just a modern browser. It's not ready for prime time, but it will be available in NW2

Is better to host your own forums. Plus, why not use an open source forum that will allow you guys to connect it to the player database and link everything up, so having an account in NW2 will also give you an account on the forums.

We are planning on that eventually. The reason we don't do it now is because of the restrictions with our host. The reason it may take a while for it to show up in NW2 is because we don't have the time to focus on it. But don't confuse chat and forums. We've developed an inhouse chat engine to use in the game to replace the current slow one.

Well, when you do get to the point of hosting your own message boards, could there be a separate clan only setup? While I haven't minded running the clan's message boards myself, it's just tough to get everyone over there and to participate. *shrugs* Basically what I'm thinking of is a setup a bit like Utopia, when the clan leader would be able set up basic permissions for different types of users (Such as Admins, maybe n00b trainers, etc.) I think it would actually make the game a lot more competitive... plus it would be nice to be able to coordinate better if NW2 is going to reset every two months.

Yes, when we host forums, we will definitely have private and public clan forum sections for each clan. Hopefully, the officers you set in game will determine the privileges they have on the forum as well. It's a great idea, and I think it would make the community a lot better, so it's a high priority, but it's most probably not going to be available at the initial launch.
