I know a lot of the old farts around here have been complaining about the complete disorder that is the chat board. I just wanted to post a little something that might exemplify our frustration. Here's an excerpt from said chat board.
[Dark Red Eye]: solidus mail [Solidus]: dark i created a virus with an ai program and now i think i have to kill it [Dark Red Eye]: k* [Dark Red Eye]: mail...bac [Hakudoshi]: MAIL BACK [Dark Red Eye]: mail..back hakudoschi [Solidus]: red eye mail [FuyuHana]: oh ya, don't threaaten me dark....seems it backfired this time [Hakudoshi]: Dark Mail [Dark Red Eye]: solidus mail
Note the repeated use of informing others of "mail". This is completely unnecessary. If you send someone a mail that you know is on, simply check your mail in a few seconds to see if they sent a reply. There is no need to spam back and forth. This is supposed to be a NW chat board, yet it has turned into a instant message substitute spam fest and it it completely out of control. I know that you staffers are more focused on NW2, as you should be. However, I'd just like to open the discussion for use oldies to try to explain why we think you newbies should frankly stop talking so much.
And yes, I realize the irony of my long post...

I agree that the chat board should not be used in such a way, but it exemplifies a shortcoming of our system. We would like to set the chat up for NW2 where you get private messages from the system notifying you of new mail to avoid problems like this. We'd also like to have the chat in NW2 support private messaging and separate channels, but we'll see how far we get with it. Ultimately that's the goal.
Until then, it would be nice if players could refrain from spamming the chat board with unnecessary banter.
One thing you might want to try is setting up an irc channel on something efnet or freenode. Using external programs like IRC or AIM will alleviate some of the problems.

Finally, it is being said flat out to stop with the "you got mail" messages. It gets annoying when every other post is, "check your mail!" If you want to do that, get aol or something so you can hear the voice too. Thanks for the renforcement beagle. CXt

I certainly agree regarding the 'you've got mail' repetition game some players have going on. It is annoying, to say the least.
However, unlike some members of the site, I don't believe there is a problem with people using the chat service in the manner that was clearly intended - to 'chat'. What problem does it pose if some members maintain a conversation whilst logged on? It inconveniences nobody; if you don't like the conversation simply ignore it and go and get your kill points. Frankly, all you 'oldies' are really becoming quite tedious with your 'stop talking, noobs' chant. I know that most of you are intelligent enough to realise that if something annoys you, you don't continue to participate in said annoyance. So, if you don't like the chat being used so frequently, stay away from it.

Don't take my response as any official policy. I'm just asking for people to be considerate of each other and come to amicable terms without having to resort to anything official. Just understand that some of it's our fault for not developing a great system.

Well my issue is that all the chatting completely blocks me from using the chat board. I can't talk with anyone on there because of the constant flow of 4 different conversations. This leaves me only with the mail system which isn't the greatest. And yes, this is half due to the construction of the system. But when 10 people are on and only talking, it's impossible to say anything at all. The chat board becomes a chat program and nobody plays the game. I'm fine with a little banter to communicate with people but if you want to find out how someone's day was or personal stuff, keep it off the GAME. Remember that part? This is a game and it should be used as such.

How does it block you from using it? Everyone has been in chats before, and they're made for talking, so what is it about this one that makes it not work?
I mean, talking/chatting is what the board is supposed to be for...

Generally I only end up talking on there if there are less than four people on it. I do enjoy it however because you get to prey on those that post since you know they're on.
I think that those that disagree with the "mail so-and-so," should try to change their vision upwards and try to ignore it; while those who have no preference should just go along with it. I find myself bugged by the "mail so-and-so" since I check my mail quite often, but as long as there is a conversation on the chat I can try to not let it bug me.
Congrats everyone, Ninjawars is now getting old enough so that unrest is happening between the newer and older players xD (Well, unrest with other oldies and newer players. I find ignoring things can be quite efficient when you can)

Dark_SaMa]: can i have your sister fore 5 Dollar ? [FuyuHana]: you are so licky your in a different country my friend. Thats one i would kill for bitch [Dark_SaMa]: and your sister [FuyuHana]: oo and he goes silent pfft now whos the noob again? [Dark_SaMa]: shut the fuck up jore bruther is a match fore me
Seriusly, I play this game and have fun while chatting, but as for banter about my family in real life i can't stand it. I can deal with the "You Got Mail" to a point, but when it comes to people insulting my family i draw the line. Where the hell do they get off insulting my 24 year old sister? seriusly! i can't do shit about it, but to come and and trash talk for a bit and then him insult my family!
sry when this happened this was all i could think of to do so sry for the vent
